Teaching, tools and knives... Oh My!
What a crazy month October was. So crazy in fact, I only posted one update to the website in that time. Time to get back on top of it and keep this thing dusted off. The past 30 days have been a fury of forging items in the shop, along with a influx of students taking classes and some knives being made. K.S.K. in 5/32" thick D2 is on the bench. Knife No. 100 and beyond! Some hammers and new tools!
I never thought I'd make it to 100. I did shuffle a few around to get some orders cleared out, but this one is the 100th knife. No name for it, just No. 100. It was fun to make this one. Stepped well outside my normal design comfort zone and had to do some work getting the grind right, but in all I am content with how it turned out. Now, on to the next hundred or so knives!
Smoked Peppers, Hammers and Knives!
I am loving this fall weather. Night in the 50-60's and the days are hanging around in the low 80's. It has made being in the shop so much more comfortable. The forge heats it up a bit, but being able to step outside for a break is fantastic. The name of the game right now is knives, peppers and hammers!
The knives get bigger, tools being forged and hammers!
I have been putting in serious hours in the shop, as hunting season is rapidly approaching. The weather has changed here from hot, humid and rainy to nice cooler and dry days. Need to get my self in gear for fall and winter as it is right around the corner. Wrapping up some knife orders and adding the long awaited blacksmithing tools to the site have been the main focus the past few weeks. Hence, the lack of a blog post in over two weeks.
Cooler days, more knives, and the Jam..
I have got to enjoy a cooler past two weeks here in the shop, which has been very nice. Among the usual knives and forging of things, pepper season is here. So while I manage orders, I'll be switching gears a bit as I harvest from the garden of doom, begin to can the annual batches jam and dry peppers for the seasoning.
